Noel Stookey of folk trio Peter, Paul And Mary, reads a newspaper story in The Gaslight Caf?, Greenwich Village, New York City, USA. The story is about a Father's Day boat cruise up the Hudson River to Bear Mountain that had gone awry due to counterfeit tickets and overcrowding. He shows it to his young friend Bob Dylan, who uses it as the basis of his song Talkin? Bear Mountain Picnic Disaster Blues. (1961)

Medgar Evers is buried with full military honours in Arlington National Cemetary, Arlington, Virginia, USA. Evers, a committed anti-segregation campaigner, had been shot in the back just days earlier in Jackson, Mississippi, by a white racist gunman. Evers' death will be the spark for the Bob Dylan song Only A Pawn In Their Game. (1963)
