Bob Dylan is at the Newport Folk Festival, Freebody Park, Newport, Rhode Island, USA, but does not perform on this day The three-day event also features Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger, Jose Feliciano, Sleepy John Estes, Buffy Saint-Marie, Phil Ochs and Jim Kweskin And The Jug Band. (1964)

Bob Dylan is booed off the stage at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival because he has introduced electric instruments into his music. Donovan and Joan Baez appear at the same show. (1965)

1981

Bob Dylan comes to the end of the European leg of the Shot Of Love tour with a gig at the Palace des Sports, Avignon, France. Two deaths occur during this show. One member of the crowd dies after falling into electric cables, causing total blackout. In the resulting confusion, a girl falls off a wall and also dies. (1981)

At the invitation of poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Bob Dylan makes an unannounced appearance, singing Blowin' In The Wind, A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall and The Times They Are A-Changin', at the 12th World Festival of Youths and Students, at Lenin Stadium, Luzhniki Sports Complex, Moscow, Russia. (1985)
